    1. Elevator Music   – вы наверно заметили, что в общественных местах и магазинах звучит спокойная приятная музыка, иногда раздражающая – вот она и называется Elevator Music.

    2. Ring a bell  – иногда, когда мы слышим знакомую мелодию, она будит в нас приятные воспоминания. Данное выражение означает «напомнить»: • This melody rings a bell of our first meeting – эта мелодия напоминает о нашей первой встрече.

    3. For a song  – когда мы покупаем что-то очень дешево, «за гроши», «за бесценок», мы употребляем это выражение. • You are lucky to buy this house for a song – тебе повезло купить этот дом за бесценок.

    4. Like a broken record – встречаются люди, которые могут повторять одно и то же снова и снова, как «заезженная пластинка», раздражая окружающих, наверняка и в вашем окружении есть такие.

    • Stop repeating the same words like a broken record – it is irritating! – Хватит повторять одно и то же, это раздражает.

    5. Blow your own trumpet – многие, достигая успеха, начинают хвастаться, рекламировать себя, рассказывая о своих успехах и талантах, что разумеется нескромно.

    • I can hardly bear him, he is always blowing his own trumpet – Я с трудом могу его выносить, он вечно хвастается.

    6. Jam session – так называют импровизированное выступление музыкантов, иногда непрофессиональных, чтобы зажечь вечеринку.

    • If we had guitars we could start a jam session. — если бы у нас были гитары, мы могли бы начать джем-сейшен.

    7. Call the tune = to call the shots – «задавать тон», «командовать парадом», «диктовать условия» — быть заводилой, или занимать такую должность, которая дает право распоряжаться и командовать.

    • I am not in a position to call the tune – я не в той должности, чтобы командовать парадом.

    8. Blow the whistle – «подать сигнал» — доложить властям о незаконной деятельности.

    • Nobody likes those who blow the whistle – никто не любит тех, кто информирует властей.

    9. Music to one’s ears – «музыка для ушей» — то, что приятно слышать

    • His words are music to my ears – его слова – музыка для моего слуха

    10. Face the music – смысл данной фразы к музыке никакого отношения не имеет, поскольку означает «понести наказание за что-то»

    • You must face the music for the evil you have – ты должен понести наказание за совершенное зло.

    Helen is an fifteen-year old girl living in Boston. She adores music. She loves classical music, pop music, jazz, country music, operas and what not. She thinks that she can’t live without music. She has got a lot of CDs and listens to the music every day. She also learns to play the guitar and goes to the private teacher three times a week to play well. She learns to play folk music.

    The Beatles were an English rock band, formed in Liverpool in 1960. The band was formed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. John Lennon was the guitarist and the lead Singer together with Paul McCartney. George Harrison was the third guitar and Ringo Starr was the drummer.

    In the early 1960s, their enormous popularity first emerged as «Beatlemania», the Beatles started a very successful career and soon were very popular and famous. They played rock and roll music but they later experimented with several musical styles such as, pop ballads, Indian music hard rock etc. Some of their most famous songs are: “Penny Lane”, “Love Me Do”, “All You Need Is Love” and “Yellow Submarine”. Nowadays, they are also regarded as the most influential rock band and the best-selling band in history, with estimated sales of over 600 million records worldwide.

    Підтема: Музика в моєму житті

    Мета: вдосконалювати навички вживання нових лексичних одиниць, удосконалювати навички усного мовлення, аудіювання й читання, розвивати мовну здогадку й мовленнєву реакцію учнів, розвивати пам’ять; прищеплювати любов до музики; виховувати зацікавленість у розширенні своїх знань.

    Компетентності: предметні – вміння розповідати про музикальні вподобання, складання ментальних карт працюючи над текстом, складати монологічне висловлювання використовуючи лексику з теми, висловлювати свою думку, аргументувати свій вибір;

    ключові – оцінювати свої вміння й можливості ( ініціативність і підприємливість), виражати власні погляди, почуття і ставлення ( соціальна й громадянська компетентності), спілкуватися іноземною мовою та вчитися продовж життя.
