JANE, BATTY AND BEN

Jane is a little girl. She is six. She has no brother or sister. But she has two good friends: Ben and Betty.

Ben is a big nice dog. It is black and white. Betty is a big pretty doll. She has got long fair hair and a nice red dress. Jane likes to play with them. So every day after dinner she plays with Betty and Ben. They play in the house; they play in the garden and near the river.

One day Jane goes to the river with Betty and Ben. She sees many red, orange and yellow flowers there. She likes the flowers very much. She wants to pick up some flowers for her mother.

But she falls into the river. Ben jumps after her. He catches her by the dress. Then he puts her under a big tree. Jane opens her eyes. “Oh, Ben, where is Betty? Where is Betty?” she cries.

Ben looks up and down and jumps into the river. Ben is not afraid of the water. Very quickly he comes back and puts Betty under the big tree, too. Jane is very happy; she doesn’t cry any more.

Изучение английского языка может оказаться непростой задачей. Есть много способов, которые помогут преодолеть различные проблемы, связанные с грамматикой, правописанием, произношением и даже сленгом. Одним из них является метод активного чтения. Чем больше вы читаете тексты на английском языке, тем больше у вас развивается понимание английского языка. И как результат, тем быстрее вы научитесь читать и говорить по-английски. Самостоятельное чтение довольно эффективно, к тому же оно сильно мотивирует к обучению. Когда вы читаете самостоятельно, а не с преподавателем, вы сами выбираете тексты, которые уж точно будут вам интересны, в отличие от текстов, предложенных учителем. В результате вы будете читать с большей охотой и, соответственно, запомните больше новых слов.

Учебники и пособия по английскому языку являются полезными инструментами обучения, но не менее полезными могут стать газеты, журналы и книги на английском языке. Из них вы узнаете популярные английские выражения, фразы, грамматический конструкции и слова, которые значительно расширят ваш словарный запас.

Для чего нужно чтение

Чтение на английском языке – один из лучших способов пополнить словарный запас. Контекст статей, рассказов и диалогов помогает выявить и понять значения английских слов, с которыми вы сталкиваетесь впервые. Также с помощью чтения вы повторяете уже знакомые слова, тем самым лучше запоминая их.

Чтение помогает сконцентрировать мышление на английском языке. Когда вы читаете книги на английском, в вашей памяти откладываются сотни английских слов, устойчивых фраз, грамматических конструкций. Впоследствии они пригодятся вам в письменной речи и в выполнении упражнений. Со временем вы перестанете каждый раз думать, какую временную форму глагола использовать, как расставить знаки препинания, как написать то или иное слово – всю эту информацию ваш мозг научится обрабатывать автоматически. Кстати, между чтением и письмом существует крепкая связь. Чтение позволяет видеть грамматически правильные предложения в живом контексте, а это может служить в качестве модели для собственной письменной формы. Регулярное чтение стимулирует воображение и творчество, помогает научиться писать более содержательно и оригинально.

Если вы хотите стать опытным, «скилловым» читателем, желательно читать и переводить хотя бы несколько страниц в день. Если у вас недостаточно свободного времени на это, берите книги, журналы и газеты с собой в дорогу, читайте в общественном транспорте или длинной очереди. Начав читать каждый день, через некоторое время вы научитесь все меньше заглядывать в словарь, а затем и совсем от него откажетесь.

Тексты для детей

Английские тексты для детей обычно ограничиваются небольшим списком тем, понятных любому школьнику и ребенку. Как правило, это простые, иногда смешные и забавные, рассказы о животных, членах семьи, природе, окружающих предметах. В английских текстах для детей используется самая простая лексика и короткие предложения. Такие рассказы легки для восприятия и обычно состоят из 1-2 маленьких абзацев.

Тексты для начинающих

Эти тексты рассчитаны на учеников уровней Beginner (начинающий) и Elementary (элементарный). Здесь можно найти уже более широкое разнообразие тем: праздники, внешность, города и страны, повседневные дела. В аспекте лексики тексты для начинающих почти такие же легкие, как детские тексты; здесь используются все те же базовые слова и выражения. Что касается грамматики, то здесь начинают появляться временные формы глаголов, сложные и составные слова, придаточные предложения.

Тексты средней сложности

Английские тексты средней сложности включают уже большой список тем: профессии, работа, учеба, отношения в семье и с друзьями, музыка, искусство, история, социальные проблемы, придуманные истории. Здесь используется сложная лексика, встречаются профессиональные термины, но в целом темы текстов не узконаправленные; они должны быть интересны и понятны широкому кругу читателей. Грамматических конструкций в текстах средней сложности много – здесь могут встречаться почти все из них, за исключением самых сложных и устаревших.

Сложные тексты

Сложные английские тексты обычно посвящены какой-либо узкоспециализированной теме. Темы могут совпадать с текстами средней сложности, только в этом случае у них более глубокое раскрытие и в них используется сложная профессиональная лексика. Также к сложным текстам можно отнести поэзию, драматургию, классическую литературу. В сложных текстах часто можно найти фразеологизмы, идиомы, специальные термины. Грамматика сложных текстов отличается тяжеловесностью конструкций, длинными сложноподчиненными и сложносочиненными предложениями. Часто встречаются условные предложения всех трех типов, согласование времен.
